What to know

Gutters that overflow are usually clogged or pitched the wrong way. Water spilling over the edge can stain siding, rot fascia boards and pool against the foundation.

Tell the contractor roughly how many feet of gutter you have, whether the house is one or two stories, and what you've noticed.
